At Sentara Medical Group, we understand that your healthcare needs can sometimes be unpredictable. That’s why we’re committed to providing you with the right care – at the right time. We encourage you to use this guide to select the best care for you when you’re not feeling well or your healthcare status has changed.
Start with Your Primary Care Team
As the team that knows you best, we always want your care to start with your primary care team. So, if you are suffering from a minor, non-life threatening illness, we want you to make your primary care team your first stop!
Same-Day Appointments
If you need care while the office is open, please call your primary care team to request a same-day appointment. If a same-day appointment is not available, your primary care team may offer to schedule you at a neighboring Sentara Family Medicine Physicians or Sentara Internal Medicine Physicians office, or set up an eVisit or video visit, if applicable.
Sentara Primary Care & Therapy Center
We know you’re busy and it’s not easy to fit a medical appointment into your schedule. That’s why we’re pleased to offer Sentara Primary Care & Therapy Center – quick, convenient walk-in care with locations in Virginia Beach, Waynesboro and Staunton. Walk-in care and same-day appointments available. For more information, click here.
eVisits
An eVisit is an electronic visit offered through our secure portal, Sentara MyChart. During an eVisit, your primary care team is able to confirm your medical condition, determine a treatment plan and even submit a prescription to your pharmacy – all without you coming into the office for an appointment.
Conditions that can be treated include: Bladder infection, Eye Infection, Pink Eye, Sore Throat, Urinary Tract Infection, Cold/Cough, Broncitis and Sinus Infection
eVisits are available at select primary care locations and for current patients who have been seen in the office within the year.
Virtual Care
Sentara Medial Group is proud to offer virtual care as a convenient alternative to visiting your primary care provider’s or physical therapist’s office when you have a minor injury or illness. Virtual care is a secure way to receive medical care from the comfort of your home or office. For more information or to schedule an appointment, click here.

After Hours Care
All our primary care offices offer a direct after hours connection to a healthcare provider. Based on your symptoms, this provider will either schedule a next day appointment for you, or help you select a more appropriate immediate treatment option such as urgent care or the emergency room. To receive after hours care, call your primary care team’s practice number.
